Vehicle Activated Speed Sign (VAS) – Results for Waveney Avenue – May 2026

Vehicle Activated Speed Signs are often used across Brickhill. These LED traffic signage solutions are used for traffic management and have been proven to  drastically improve traffic calming and speed reductions. More importantly, they allow us to download and analyse the data of motorists on given roads, meaning specific trends can be identified and solutions implemented.

Key – 

  1. V85:  this is described as the ‘Police Reference’ and is the 85th percentile (average speed of 15th fastest vehicle per 100 vehicles).
  2. VD: this is the average speed
  3. Vmax:  the highest speed value recorded during the evaluation period
  4. Speed violation: Number of vehicles driving at more than 30mph.
  5. ADT: Average daily total of vehicles

Lower in the report it also shows:

  1. V50: similar to V85. This is the 50% percentile (average speed of 50th fastest vehicle per 100 vehicles). 
  2. v30:  similar to V85. This is the 30% percentile (average speed of 30th fastest vehicle per 100 vehicles).
