Full timetables are available at a number of outlets and can be seen on the Stagecoach, Grant Palmer and Bedford Borough Council websites.

Concessionary fares are valid on all services.

For Stagecoach services within the urban area it is recommended that a Dayrider is purchased for more than one journey or a 7 or 28 day Megarider for more than six journeys per week obtainable from the driver of the first bus used.

On 1 October 2017, Bus operators Stagecoach and Grant Palmer in conjunction with Bedford Borough Council launched a ‘Cygnet’ smartcard which allows bus users to switch freely between the two operators without the need to buy multiple tickets.

The Cygnet travel zone equates to the area currently covered by the Stagecoach Megarider and includes the whole of Bedford and Kempston, as well as surrounding villages such as Bromham, Clapham, Cople and Elstow.

The ‘Cygnet’ smartcard costs £5 for a day ticket, with the weekly ticket priced at £17.

You can buy your smartcard on Stagecoach and Grant Palmer buses. Ask your driver for a new card which costs 50p, which you can keep and re-use.

Your ticket products can be loaded onto your smartcard on the bus when you purchase.

Cycling Campaign for North Bedfordshire

There are significant resources being dedicated to cycling across the Borough. The website http://www.cyclebedford.org.uk is the promotional website of Cycling Campaign for North Bedfordshire and is full of great information, from hints and tips to local maps such as the one opposite – which is already on its 9th edition!

The aim has been to show routes which as far as possible avoid busy and difficult roads. Bedford is blessed with many opportunities to do this and the routes shown connect the residential areas to all the main destinations in the town and to the countryside.
