MANTON LANE AND BRICKHILL DRIVE ROADWORKS

Manton Lane Roadworks

News - 24th July 2018

Carriageway improvement works are due to start soon on Manton Lane and Brickhill Drive as part of the Transporting Bedford 2020 project in advance of more major works to be carried out at the Manton Lane/Clapham Road junction later this financial year.

It is important to recognise that there will be an impact on the Parish and wider community as work progresses and diversions come into force.

Notification Letters will be sent/given to those most affected - see notification map to the right. A copy of the letter can be viewed here:- Notification Letter to Residents

Resurfacing of Brickhill Drive, from Kestrel Road to the Manton Lane traffic signals. See map for location and diversion route. As with the Manton Lane resurfacing works, these will again need to be carried out overnight using road closures. Resurfacing of Brickhill Drive

The road closures will be in place between 08:00pm and 06:00am and signed diversion routes will be used. In order to access all areas to be resurfaced the Borough Council insist that no vehicles are parked on the highway during the road closure period on the days mentioned. Please note that should there be obstructive vehicles left on the highway, whilst every attempt will be made to contact the owner, they will be moved to ensure the work can be carried out efficiently. The Council can recharge the cost of moving an obstructive vehicle to the owner.

Wherever possible, access to your property or business will be allowed. There may be delays whilst plant and materials are moved or carriageway patching is implemented. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. If access is granted through the closure please ensure you follow all instructions given and take care and keep speed to a minimum to protect the safety of the operatives on site. Please note that the materials used in resurfacing are hot until cured therefore care should be taken at all times during the works.

All moving plant and lorries are fitted with reversing beepers and flashing lights for the safety of operatives and the public. The equipment and plant used for road patching includes a cold milling machine, a paving machine, the use of engine powered saws and pneumatic drills, and will require a number of lorry movements. This means that some noise disturbance is unavoidable. We understand the inevitable inconvenience this is likely to cause for this limited time, and apologise in advance for any disturbance, we ask for your help and goodwill whilst work is in progress.

Your refuse and recycling may not be collected at the usual time for the duration of these works. Please therefore ensure that your waste containers (bins and/or bags) are placed at the edge of your property at your usual collection point by 7am on the scheduled day of collection. Please note that collections of general rubbish and recycling/green garden waste may not occur at a similar time of day, and that collections may take place up to 5pm.

If you wish to discuss working arrangements relating to this work please telephone the Highways Helpdesk on 01234 718003.
