St Thomas More Year 9 District Cup Champions!

On Monday 27th April St Thomas More Catholic Teaching School became the Year 9 District Cup Football Champions.

They competed in the Year 9 District Cup finals against Redborne School. It was an exciting match that saw St Thomas More lead the way in the first half 2:0. Redborne went on to equalize by scoring two goals in the second half leading to a nerve wracking extra time, during which St Thomas More scored the winning goal to win the cup 3:2.

Coach Rhys Allen: ‘We are extremely proud of our Year 9 team. They have worked incredibly hard and it was a fantastic win for them last night.

Thank you to all those who came along to support the team. They have already set their sights on going one better and winning the county cup next year!’

Our goal scorers were Dylan Asonganyi (2) and Fraelias Mienambolo (1). A special mention to Lewis Ziccardi who was an absolute star as goalkeeper.

Friends, family and staff from across the Bedford Catholic Schools came along to support the team, who played the match at the Kempston Rovers football ground.

Those that were unable to come along in person were lucky enough to be able to follow the match on the new Bedford Catholic Schools twitter accounts (@BedsCatholicEd and @STMBedford) as well as on Facebook.

'The final was one of many sporting successes for the school this term – the Year 11 have reached the final of the District Cup on May 6th and the Year 10 were semi- finalists of the District Cup on Apr 23rd.' Bedford Catholic Schools
