The Planning Committee of Brickhill Parish Council is meeting this Thursday evening at 7pm.

The agenda includes reviewing and commenting on three planning applications:

1. Tree Preservation Order (TPO) 10/02042/TPO, 12 Francis Groves Close

2. Application no 10/02078/DC3, Brickhill Lower School, Dove Road

3. Telecommunications Determination Application 10/02091/TEL, Land opposite Avon Drive Filling Station, 22 Avon Drive, Bedford

The Parish Council does not decide whether to approve or not approve planning applications – the Borough Council is the planning authority, but the Parish Council is able to send in its comments.

The meeting takes place at St Mark’s Church Community Centre, Calder Rise. The public are welcome to attend and there is a 10 minute section allocated for the public to give their comments.

Also delivered at the same time was a questionnaire. In it residents are asked for their views on Brickhill. Replies can be left on doorsteps for collection on Sunday 12th or Monday 13th September. Nothing to do in the school holidays? Come and join in the fun at Gathering on the Green on Wednesday 4th August, from 11am to 3pm. It takes place on Waveney Green, by Waveney Avenue/Avon Drive.

This event is organised by Brickhill Parish Council with support from Brickhill Baptist Church, bpha, Bedfordshire Police and Bedford Boroughh Council (including the St Thomas More cluster of Extended Services).

The Planning for Real instructions enabled residents to take part in the exercise with the minimum of fuss

There was a good turnout from residents at Anjulita Court in Woodlands Park on 12th July. They came to take part in the 2nd consultation session, where residents could add their ideas regarding the future of Brickhill on a giant map of the area.

Some suggestions were given to help residents think of issues - or they could write their own ideas

This process is called ‘Planning for Real’ and was co-ordinated by staff from Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) with support from volunteer members of the Brickhill Sustainable Community Plan steering group.

The next opportunity for residents to give their ideas will be at the Gathering on the Green on Waveney Green on 4th August.

Drop in to Anjulita Court anytime between 3pm and 8pm on Monday 12th July and put your ideas on a giant map. There will be free refreshments.

This leaflet was produced after a meeting in May with representatives from Brickhill Parish Council (councillors and clerk), Bedford Borough Council (councillors, Environmental Health, Trading Standards), Bedfordshire Police, bpha, and Places for People. The meeting was called because of concerns about anti-social behaviour in some parts of Brickhill. One of the results of the meeting was the decision to quickly produce and circulate the information leaflet, so residents would be better informed about actions that they could take.
